Urban planner Joe Minicozzi will deliver a lecture entitled “GROWING IN” on real math for smart urban development on Tuesday, April 24, at 7 p.m. at the De la Garza Building on the Laredo Community College campus.
Minicozzi is the principal of Urban3, LLC, an Asheville, NC consulting firm that uses economic data to visualize the impact of policy on community design. The firm’s urban analytics include property tax analysis, retail tax analysis, and value per acre mapping of development patterns.
As an urban planner, Minicozzi focuses on promoting development patterns that secure a community’s fiscal condition while reinforcing a stronger sense of place.
He will conduct a public workshop for City Council members at noon Thursday in Council chambers at City Hall.
Minicozzi is a founding member of the Asheville Design Center, a non-profit community design center dedicated to creating livable communities across all of Western North Carolina.
