Many Laredoans 14 and older who have special needs came out last Friday evening to enjoy A Night to Shine, a spectacular red carpet prom event sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation. The beautiful setting for this special night was the Barn at Los Patios on Casa Blanca Road. The event was hosted by the New Life Assembly of God Church.
All prom participants were crowned king or queen and enjoyed a night of dancing, karaoke, and good food.
Volunteers of all stripes — including DPS State Troopers, Laredo PD officers, and Webb County law enforcement officers, as well as educators and parents, — made certain the event was well staffed.
Night to Shine was a simultaneous prom gala sponsored by over 550 churches in 16 countries on six continents, and staffed by 175,000 volunteers who crowned 90,000 kings and queens.
Tebow, a Heisman Trophy winner, a former professional quarterback, and now an outfielder for the New York Mets, established the Tim Tebow Foundation in 2010 to “serve children and share God’s love…by fighting for those who cannot fight for themselves.”
