The Pulitzer Prize nominated play, Talk Radio, opens Friday at the Laredo Little Theater (LLT).
The funny, outrageous journey through modern radio focuses on Barry Champlain, a controversial local late-night radio host who offers his brutally honest opinions to his off-beat audience of insomniacs and lost souls who call in to sound off.
With Barry’s show about to go into national syndication, his producer is afraid Barry will say something to offend the sponsors, which makes Barry even more outrageous.
Barry’s normally bulletproof worldview is challenged, providing a glimpse behind the hard shell of his outward persona.
“Talk Radio” is directed by local theatre aficionado Oscar O. Peña and co-directed by his wife, Doreen Puig-Peña. The production features a diverse and talented cast of local theatre veterans as well as some newcomers.
Show dates are: November 17 and 18 at 8:00 p.m. and November 19 at 3:00 p.m.
Admission is $10 per person and tickets are available online through showclix at www.laredolittletheatre.com. All shows are at The Laredo Little Theatre at 4802 Thomas.
