Laredoans interested in learning about bird watching will have two opportunities to sign up for the Monte Mucho Audubon Society’s Bird Watching 101 class.
The first takes place in the multi-purpose room at the Joe A. Guerra Laredo Public Library on Calton Road on Thursday, July 20, at 5 p.m.
The second will be held Tuesday, July 25, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lamar Bruni Vergara Inner City Branch Library at 202 W. Plum Street.
Participants will learn from birder Danny Perales about bird species native to south Texas and bird watching basics. Among the topics are bird calls and shapes.
Laredo and the surrounding area are home to many native bird species. The area provides ideal habitat for identifying local species as well as those that migrate to the south for the winter.
Perales said his presentation is a good opportunity for starters to become familiar with the bird species of South Texas.
